Staff Education Project Development
To address medication nonadherence issues among patients in a state psychiatric
hospital the Nursing staff including 15 registered nurses (RNs), and ,5 licensed practical
nurses (LPNs) as the key participants. Their roles are crucial and integral in the direct
care and management of patients within the psychiatric facility.
Staff Education Project Development
They administer
medications, conduct patient assessments, and provide patient education, making them
the backbone of this project (Cahaya et al., 2022; Matsuda & Kohno, 2016).
I developed a comprehensive curriculum, encompassing learning objectives,
relevant information on factors contributing to medication nonadherence, strategies for
improving adherence, and education using the NAMA scale for medication assessment
(Appendix A). In addition, I developed 10 multiple-choice test questions (Appendix B).
Staff Education Project Development
The development and implementation of the project entail several procedural
steps aimed at equipping nursing staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to address
medication nonadherence effectively. After completing the Ethics Pledge, I submitted the
teaching documents (learning objectives, teaching content via PowerPoint presentation,
and the test) to three experts to review for content validity and usability by responding to
seven questions (see Appendix C). The experts’ the Clinical Nursing Leader, Clinical
Therefire Quality Coordinator and Director of Nursing Staff Development.at the project site.
The nursing staff completed a pretest to assess their baseline knowledge and
identify specific knowledge gaps and learning needs among nursing staff concerning
medication adherence and the utilization of the Nursing Assessment of Medication
Acceptance (NAMA) scale (Hori et al., 2017). I presented the 20-minute education
Staff Education Project Development
program to the staff. After participating in the education program, they completed a
posttest and a course evaluation.
Moreover The education program was designed to be more than just a PowerPoint
presentation. It is a structured and interactive platform that engages the nursing staff in
various ways. From case studies to role-playing scenarios and interactive discussions, the
program is tailored to facilitate learning and knowledge retention, ensuring that the
nursing staff feels actively involved (Inwanna et al., 2022). APA
