My selected learning technology for this discussion is Simulation-based education.

Provide an explanation of what it is and how the use of this technology could benefit nursing practice.

Aebersold (2018) noted that simulation-based education is an education method that replaces real experience with guided experiences. In other words, it is a learning approach that allows students to practice learned skills in real-life situations. Simulation has been used in nursing, especially during undergraduate education. Through simulation-based education, learners are empowered to create their own reality and truth.

Simulation-based education could benefit nursing practice in several ways. For instance, it provides context through application because it creates an interactive training environment that allows learners to act through specific situations to maximize learning. Additionally, simulation-based education provides immediate feedback, which helps avoid the effects of the Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve. Moreover, the simulation-based education approach is tailored to meet the needs of nurse. This gives nursing students the contextual information they need to succeed in real-life scenarios. The other benefit of simulation-based education in nursing practice is that it minimizes risks because it gives learners the flexibility to make mistakes.
