Relaxation Technique
Instructions
For this discussion, each student will create a four- to five-slide PowerPoint presentation, including voice-over, that will be used to educate your Week 9 client Bill on your chosen relaxation technique. Be creative in presenting your topic and include at least two references (in APA format) beyond your textbooks for your information.
Each student is to create a PowerPoint presentation for their topic and submit to this discussion forum when complete. Include the following information:
Introduction
-
Title: Relaxation Technique for Managing Stress: [Your Technique]
-
Brief introduction of stress → how it connects physiological symptoms (e.g., muscle tension, headaches, high blood pressure) and psychological symptoms (e.g., anxiety, irritability, poor concentration).

- The connection between physiological symptoms and psychological symptoms
- What the relaxation technique is
- How to perform this
- The benefits
- Tracking outcomes
- How this will help relieve the client’s symptoms
Review your peers’ presentation posts and respond to at least two classmates. Please choose relaxation techniques that are different from your chosen topic. Address the following in your reply post:
- What did you learn about benefits associated with that relaxation technique?
- Compare and contrast your chosen relaxation technique and your peer’s relaxation technique.
Include a minimum of three peer-reviewed articles related to the relaxation practice and its benefits as references, in APA format.
-
Connect the technique back to Bill’s symptoms (example: “This will help reduce Bill’s anxiety and headaches by calming his nervous system”).
-
Encourage Bill to practice daily.
-
Closing motivation: “Relaxation is a skill — the more you practice, the stronger the benefits.”
- You’ll need at least 3 articles beyond your textbook.
-
Benefits: lowers stress, improves focus, reduces muscle tension, promotes calmness.
-
Outcome tracking:
-
Self-report stress scales (0–10)
-
