The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) project was introduced to handle. Challenges that are encountered when preparing nurses with competencies necessary for continuously improving quality and safety healthcare systems in their places of work. QSEN proposes 6 competencies that a competent and respected nurse should have, including patient-centered care. Teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, safety, and information.

QSEN leaders also propose that there be a statement of knowledge. Skills, and attitudes for each of the competencies that should be developed during nursing education. This paper argues that QSEN essentials should be taught at all levels of nursing education. It will also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of QSEN essentials and how I would incorporate this education into the practice now and in my future practice role.

Yes, I agree that QSEN essentials should be taught at all levels. This is because they ensure that nurses are thoroughly prepared to provide the highest level of care possible. For instance, patient-centered care competence helps nurses to document the presence and extent of pain before developing a pain management plan. Similarly, evidence-based practice helps nurses differentiate between clinical opinions and evidence summaries. This would be helpful in writing the standards of practice that are evidence-based. Through the informatics component, nurses get to understand the importance of protecting the health information of patients through systems such as the electronic health record (EHR). APA
