Patient-Centered Care and Teamwork Essentials

Patient-Centered Care and Teamwork Essentials

One of my selected Master’s Essential is Patient Centered Care, done by Mallory Armstrong.  From the presentations, I learned that patient centered care focuses on treating individuals receiving care with dignity and respect and involving them in all decisions involving their health. I also noted that patient-centered care puts patients in the driver’s seat. It was exciting to learn that a care that is centered on patients helps reduce unnecessary procedures, improves health outcomes, improve patient satisfaction, and educate patients.

My second Master’s Essential is Teamwork and Collaboration, which was handled by Michael Braxton and Jacob Hahn. I learned through their presentations that teamwork and collaboration involves a group of people working together to complete a shared goal (Rosen et al., 2018). I loved how the two concepts were differentiated even though they look similar. The presentation helped me understand that teamwork combines individual efforts of all team members to achieve a goal. However, collaboration ensures that people are working together to complete a project collectively. Teamwork and collaboration as a Master’s Essential encourage problem-solving, employee productivity, and encourages care providers to learn from one another.

Patient-Centered Care and Teamwork Essentials

Patient Centered Care and Teamwork and Collaboration have differences and similarities with the Master’s Essential I handled that is Informatics. Informatics deal with the use of information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, reduce errors, and support the decision-making function (Sherwood, 2021). Informatics essential is important as it helps improve nursing education and training, helps to accurately diagnose diseases, and ensures that medications are approved faster. The only similarity between the Master’s essentials is that informatics helps promote patient-centered care. This is because it provides an avenue through which patients provide their clinicians with critical information.

I may use the Master’s Essential in my clinical practice by encouraging teamwork and collaboration between providers. I may also use the essential by adopting technological inventions in health that improve patients care. Lastly, I would do this by always actin in the best interest of patients, which makes up for patient-centered care. APA
