The purpose of the threaded discussion is to promote dialogue among students and faculty related to course competencies and constructs. The discussion seeks to enhance mastery of knowledge related to course objectives.
Requirements:
- Students must provide the initial substantive response to the discussion question/topic(s) posted by the course faculty by Friday. This mean the Fridays of those weeks with a discussion board assignment.
- Also, a minimum of two responses are needed to two student colleagues, preferably on two different days by Tuesday of those weeks with a discussion board assignment.
- All questions posed to the initial student post by course faculty need to be answered by the student to earn full credit for the discussion board assignment.
- Peer responses should be substantive feedback to a student colleague’s response to the question/topic posted by the course faculty. In view of this, all responses must be respectful and thoughtful.
Moreover, discussion boards are not opinion boards. Hence, students need scholarly sources to support claims and constructs presented in the original post. Besides, students need to provide citations. Also, scholarly resources are not required for peer-response post. However, including the references in APA 7th edition strengthens peer-response posts. Students must cite information taken from a peer-reviewed source. Citations for parts of posts that are synthesized from the course text, peer-reviewed research articles, and other credible sources are required. Furthermore, the purpose of faculty monitoring is to ensure that the work complies with APA standards. Also, the faculty tests for plagiarism intermittently during the course session using Turnitin.
