Discussion Board Participation Requirements Explained
Discussion Question:
Reflect on how your practicum experience throughout this program has helped you develop an appreciation for nursing scholarship., How will you incorporate scholarship into your future nursing practice?
Purpose:
The purpose of the threaded discussion is to promote dialogue among students and faculty during the course.
Requirements:
The student must provide the initial substantive response to the discussion question/topic(s) posted by the course faculty by Friday of those weeks with a discussion board assignment.
The student must provide at least two additional responses. These responses should be to two different student colleagues. Importantly, they need to be submitted on two different days by Tuesday during weeks with a discussion board assignment.
Additionally, the student must answer all questions posed by the course faculty on their initial post. This is necessary to earn full credit for the discussion board assignment.
Moreover, the student’s feedback should be substantive. It should address a colleague’s response to the question or topic posted by the course faculty. All responses must remain respectful and thoughtful.
Remember, discussion boards are not opinion boards. Students must use scholarly sources to support their claims in the original post. Furthermore, citations are required for these sources.
While you do not need scholarly resources for your response posts, using them can strengthen your arguments. If you draw from a source, you must cite it. Citations are also needed for synthesized parts from course texts, peer-reviewed research articles, and other credible sources.
Finally, course faculty will monitor compliance with citations. They will use Turnitin to evaluate posts throughout the course session.
Nursing scholarship refers to the generation, synthesis, translation, application, and dissemination of knowledge in nursing to improve care and health outcomes (Milton, 2022). It plays an integral role in enhancing clinical practice, informing science, influencing healthcare policies, and supporting the integration of best care practices. The nursing scholarship takes the form of primary empirical research, analysis of data, and theory development and testing (Milton, 2022). APA
