Challenges of the Affordable Care Act
One of the challenges is the ACA is that the increasing health care coverage raises the
health care cost in the short term (Blumstein, 2020). This means that APA pays a lot of
money for people who ignored preventive and testing services for decades. Secondly, the
number of individuals purchasing the cover has been decreasing since the federal court
termed the annual fines on individuals who are not covered as unconstitutional (Blumstein,
2020). This means that soon, the ACA program will be financially crippled because people
continue to withdraw. Third, approximately 30 million people who were not covered by
companies and relied on private plans were negatively affected when insurance companies
canceled their plans (Blumstein, 2020). The insurance companies claimed that the private
plans did not cover the ACA's essential benefits. The individuals who lost their private plans
struggled to obtain other insurance plans and, therefore, stayed for some time uninsured. Challenges of the Affordable Care Act;

The fourth challenge is that the ACA covers services that many people do not need

for quite some time like maternity care (Blumstein, 2020). Maternity care is not necessary for
young adults, men, and older women. Being forced to pay for such services is no logic to
such groups of people. Fifth, between 3 and 5 million people lost their company-based
insurance cover because businesses found it more cost-effective to pay for penalties other
than providing cover to their employees (Blumstein, 2020). Sixth, the many amendments of
the ACA starting with the most recent that outlawed payment of annual fines will see many
people pull out of the plan. Last but not least, the ACA has not managed to cover all
Americans even with the many subsidies and benefits (Blumstein, 2020). This is because many Americans prefer private covers while others are living in extreme poverty, therefore,
unable to purchase the cover. Challenges of the Affordable Care Act;
