Affiliative leadership

The affiliative model of leadership promotes positivity, harmony, and team-building in the workplace (Odell, 2023). Leaders using this model pursue conflict resolution and strives to create personal connections with their juniors, which promotes a sense of belonging and trust. Also, leaders using the affiliative leadership model prioritize the emotional needs of employees and peaceful coexistence between members (Odell, 2023). They not only motivate members to meet the goals but also resolve conflicts that may be there amicably. Moreover, affiliative leadership is characterized by rewards, which motivate employees to perform.

  1. Participative leadership

Participative leadership is one that accommodates the opinions of subordinates in decision-making (Khassawneh & Elrehail, 2022). This approach to leadership aims to enhance employee ownership of the organization, improve the decision-making function, and integrate the goals of employees with those of the organization (Khassawneh & Elrehail, 2022). The major principles in participative leadership include the principle of mutual support, group decision, and high standards. This method is more effective when used in organizations such as universities, construction firms, and technology companies where there is lower pressure because it takes time to get decisions made (Khassawneh & Elrehail, 2022). Participative leadership promotes employee retention, improves morale, makes it easy for change, and promotes creativity.

  1. Country club leadership

This is an approach to leadership built on the assumption that employees would work better if they were satisfied with their jobs. Country club leadership emphasizes care for people and concern for production. In other words, it gives employees, as the major human stakeholders, the attention, care, and well-being they deserve. Leaders using this model constantly use positive reinforcement to encourage individuals working in the organization to achieve their goals. Such employees are increasingly loyal to the organization they work, feel more valued, and are more engaged in daily tasks.

After reviewing the literature and engaging in research, I have concluded that participative leadership is the model that best fits my approach to leadership. This is because I value the input of everyone before making a decision that affects them. Also, all the members of a team are equally made responsible for the process and outcome. This model of leadership believes that the majority of the people consulted must agree with the proposal of a decision before it is implemented.
