The outcome rating scale (ORS) is a measure used by patients to provide feedback on their perception regarding therapeutic progress (Low, Miller, & Squire, 2012). In other words, it is a tool used by patients to give instant feedback on what is working and what is not working in treatment. The ORS is an effective and reliable therapeutic instrument and can be used in any therapeutic session (William, 1998). It measures an individual’s well-being, therapy progress and measures relationships outside the home. A session rating scale (SRS) is used to assess the key elements of relationship between clients and therapists (Low, Miller, & Squire, 2012). The SRS enables therapists to understand patients’ perception concerning the patient-therapist relationship (Peggy, 1997). Therefore, based on the score, the therapist can determine whether the patient-therapist relationship is good or needs to be improved (Seponski et al., 2013). It is used to measure perceptions of patients regarding aspects such as relevance of goals and the client-therapist relationship. Read more

Therapeutic progress

There are several benefits associated with evaluating progress in therapy. I think the evaluation of progress in therapy improves the quality of care in a health care facility. This is because the evaluation aims to enhance the patient-provider relationship, which is essential in improving care outcomes. Secondly, I think the evaluation of therapy progress is key in managing or mitigating health risks exposed to patients. This is because therapists are challenged to deliver care that has been found to produce positive results and not a trial and era kind of treatment. In other words, the evaluation helps identify what is working in favor of patients and what is not working. Thirdly, evaluation done at regular intervals can improve the management and effectiveness of a health care facility. This is because evaluation motivates health care workers to use evidence-based practices when delivering care to patients (Nichols & Sydney, 2013). Additionally, evaluation of therapy programs influences organizational effectiveness as health care facilities begin to focus on results. Therapeutic progress
